Blowout Fracture Surgery

In case of treating children with blowout orbital fracture, the surgery is urgent if there is extraoclar muscle tethering causing double vision, otherwise the muscle restriction could be permanent.

In the case of adults with blowout fracture, the surgery depends on extent of the fractured wall, and if there is any extraocular muscle tethering, however the surgery is not as urgent as in children.

Surgical correction of blowout fracture is done under general anaesthesia, and it involves releasing the tethered muscle, and covering the orbital wall fracture with an implant.
